──── Tips────

When determining which word you want to choose, you must consider the context! Here are just some examples:

  • If you want a more neutral (positive) tone, shine would be a good choice
    • The moon shone above the hills

  • If you want a softer tone, glow or shimmer would be a better fit instead
    • Her face glowed under the light
    • The lake shimmered at dusk

  • If you want a light/cheerful/lively/confident tone, choose beam, twinkle, light up, or sparkle
    • He beamed with pride
    • Stars twinkled above
    • Her face lit up
    • The dress sparkled under the lights

  • If you want to emphasize something (or for dramaa :D), use blaze
    • Her eyes blazed with anger

  • If the duration (of the light) is rather short, use flash, flare, glint, or glimmer
    • Lightning flashed
    • Anger flared in his eyes
    • A glint of steel
    • A glimmer of light in the distance
